How a school project led to Geological Wonders
Our journey begins in May of 2004, my youngest daughter, Suanne, needed to put together a rock collection for a science project. So off we go to find just the right rock for her new collection. Like most places in the world she was able to collect quite a few.
Then we met Cecil, a retired World War II veteran. He and his wife lived outside of town and had a small rock shop next to his house. He showed us some of the most beautiful rocks you could imagine. My wife Jodi and I were hooked.
He told us of an area called Mt. Ida, located in Arkansas, that was known as the crystal capital of the world. So off we go again, this time to find some gems.
My wife and I were so fascinated with all the wondrous rocks we were finding. They were captivating, with all the various textures, colors, and shapes. We found ourselves inspired and shortly thereafter, in late June, along with my daughter studying geology in school, hence the founding of Geological Wonders.
